This module will equip students with concise knowledge of what to pay attention to when communicating internationally, be it in writing, speaking face-to-face or using new media. It will also analyse how governments communicate with their people in the 21st century and how national branding and geopolitics are being applied nationally and internationally. The textbook and supporting texts will give students a broad basis for understanding the increasing need for communicative practices associated with rapid international narratives and discourses and will equip them with analytical tools to decode these.
Learning outcomes 
A. Demonstrate a sophisticated and critically informed understanding of how cultural memory is reproduced and circulated through international communication.

B. Interpret and analyse manifestations of communicative practices such as, communiqu├ęs, diplomatic notes, background briefs and general media content

C. Analyse media usage in international communication

D. Critically reflect on the role played by identities and lifestyles when involved in intercultural exchanges

E. Employ analyses of contemporary media experiences through advanced research methodologies and critical vocabularies

Method of teaching and learning 
Seminar Discussions, Presentations, Role play, film and textual analyses.
The University does not allow resits for final year students, whilst the resit opportunity will be introduced for next ordinary sitting of the examinations/assessments for failed modules.
