Module Title Teaching Chinese as an International Language II - Teaching Practice
Module Level Level 2
Module Credits 5.00

Aims and Fit of Module

This module is part of the Teaching Chinese as an International Language pathway that students can study in years 3 and 4 on the BA China Studies degree. The module provides students with practical teaching skills to be used in the teaching practice, and opportunities for reflective performance assessment, both self and other students on the programme.

Learning outcomes

A	Design and deliver effective lesson plans and language lessons
B Demonstrate a range of teaching techniques
C Develop appropriate teaching materials
D Critically conduct lesson observations and evaluate teaching effectiveness.

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching uses tutorials and discussion groups. The tutorials introduce students to areas of teaching practice(s), which are then the basis for the weekly teaching practice/observations. An individual student learning project focusing on one area of theory or practice of Chinese language teaching forms an important part of the assessment.
