Aims and Fit of Module

To provide the chance to learn from the diverse teaching experience of yourself, of the other members of the group, and of experienced EFL teachers;
To raise awareness of what is currently thought to be good practice;
To investigate how and why classroom approaches interact with learning factors
To develop and apply a critical grasp of the teaching techniques and methodologies

Method of teaching and learning

This module allows the participants to observe language classes and gain hands-on classroom experience while using the skills and methods addressed in this and other MA TESOL modules. 
The activities consist of topics introduced in 6 lectures and tutorials and followed up on in 6 classroom observations. Each observation will be preceded by a pre-observation meeting with the observed teacher and followed by a post-observation meeting with the observed teacher (1 hr each). Observation diagram and a reflective journal will be produced to document the activities. The participants will also teach a total of 10 mock lessons and real lessons in language classes in SIP (6 + 4). In addition, they will observe and peer-review each other’s teaching under the supervision of the module leader.
