Aims
The module introduces students to the basic principles of Chinese Law. It highlights the important legal principles that affect day-to-day business transactions and relationships in China, making students aware of the legal responsibilities and obligations of companies and employers.
Learning outcomes 
A. Be aware of how Chinese Law operates in the Chinese business environment.

B. Understand the structure and fundamental principles of Chinese Law.

C. Be able to apply Chinese Law to interpret case scenarios.

Method of teaching and learning 
Students will be introduced to core subjects in seminars. Classes provide the opportunity, through discussion, to refine and develop their legal knowledge.
Syllabus 
Week 1: Introduction to Law (Definition of Law; Sources of Law; Branches of Law; Chinese Judicial System)

Week 2: Contract Law-1(Definition of Contract; Basic Principles of Contract Law; Classification of Contract; Formation of Contract-Offer)

Week 3:Contract Law-2 (Formation of Contract-Acceptance; Contract Validity; Standard Terms; Performance of Contracts)

Week 4: Contract Law-3 (Terms of contract; discharge of contract; Breach of Contract)

Week 5: Company Law-1(Introduction; Types of Company; Separate Personality; Lifting the Corporate Veil)

Week 6: Company Law-2 (General Provisions; Establishment of a limited Liability Company; Organizational Structure of a limited Liability Company)

Week 7: Midterm

Week 8: Company Law-3 (One-personal Limited Liability company; Solely state-funded company; Establishment and Organizational structure of a Joint Stock Limited Company; Issuance and transfer of Shares of a Joint Stock Limited Company)

Week 9: Company Law-4 (Duty of directors, supervisors and senior managers; Financial affairs and accounting of company; Liquidation of company)

Week 10: Employment Law-1 (Introduction; Labor Law)

Week 11: Employment Law-2 (Labor contract Law-Formation of labor contract; fulfillment and change of labor contract)

Week 12: Employment Law-3 (Labor contract Law-Termination of Labor contract)
