Dynamic Systems

Module Title Dynamic Systems
Module Level Level 2
Module Credits 5.00

Aims and Fit of Module

To develop an understanding of modeling methods on dynamic systems.

To introduce the essential principles governing the behavior of dynamic systems and the fundamental control application.

To develop practical skills in mechatronic systems design and carrying out and reporting upon experiments.

Learning outcomes

A. model dynamic systems and know systems characteristics among mechanical, thermal, fluid, and electrical systems.
B. apply essential principles governing the behavior of dynamic systems.
C. apply analytical methods to determine natural frequencies and understand the stability issues in dynamic systems.
D. design dynamic systems to achieve specified objectives on performance, cost, safety, environmental protection, etc.

Method of teaching and learning

This module will be delivered through a combination of formal lectures and supervised laboratory sessions. Two laboratory reports need to be submitted which are related to mechatronic system modeling and control design.
