Principle of Intelligent Control

Module Title Principle of Intelligent Control
Module Level Level 3
Module Credits 5.00

Aims and Fit of Module

The module aims to introduce the students to the heuristic control concept. It enables to familiarize the students with the use of simulation tools like matlab and simulink. It also familiarizes students with intelligent control design techniques through realistic control examples and application: process control, decision making, and validation of results through extensive linear and non-linear simulation. It finally equips students the intelligent control structure together with analytic design methodology for systems automation

Learning outcomes

A	Analyse intelligent control concept and data transformation from intelligent viewpoint.
B Design fuzzy controlled system with fuzzy logic controller.
C Design and implement neural network control system for the given system.
D Design the computer aided structure and check system stability and performance

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching philosophy of the module follows very much the philosophy of Syntegrative Education. This has meant that the teaching delivery pattern, which follows more intensive block teaching, allows more meaningful contribution from industry partners. This philosophy is carried through also in terms of assessment, with reduction on the use of exams and increase in coursework, especially problem-based assessments that are project focused. The delivery pattern provides space in the semester for students to concentrate on completing the assessments.
This module will be delivered through a combination of formal lectures, lab session and tutorial classes.
