Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to equip students linguistically and culturally to communicate successfully in Spanish, and help them to meet the requirements for CEFR A1 equivalence.

Learning outcomes

A. Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the main Spanish linguistic principles, grammar structures and registers at an A1 level.
B. Demonstrate spoken communications skills at level A1.
C. Comprehend suitable content in Spanish at level A1 across a range of different formats.
D. Produce suitable texts in Spanish at Level A1.
E. Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries.

Method of teaching and learning

Communicative language teaching involves a high level of interaction between teacher and students. Teaching and assessment will revolve around the setting and completion of specified language tasks. 
This module includes 3 seminar hours for 12 weeks, plus 2 hours lectures in weeks 5 and another 2 in week 9. Students will have 60 hours of self-study to support their learnings.
In order to submit their coursework tasks, the students must attend at least 8 weeks of seminars hours out of the 12 total weeks.
