Aims and Fit of Module

To provide students wit h theoretical knowledge and lab-based training in genome characterization, transcriptome and proteome analysis, and bio-imaging.

Learning outcomes

A Appraise the key techniques and lab skills necessary for conducting a research project associated with post-genomic biology, and effectively interrogate, analyse and evaluate datasets.
B Critically evaluate the approaches used for the large-scale analysis of DNA, RNA, proteins, apply appropriate bio-imaging techniques to study protein localisation and function.
C Synthesise information, critically review evidence to support conclusions, and define complex problems in molecular biosciences, by applying appropriate knowledge and skills.
D Critical appraise of the literature relevant to the appropriate technologies
