Aims and Fit of Module

This course is a compulsory course of Marxist political theory for students in colleges and universities. It is the core course of political theory in colleges and universities. The basic content of this course is to comprehensively discuss the scientific meaning, forming and developing process, scientific system, historical position, guiding significance, basic viewpoints of Mao Zedong Thought and the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, as well as the lines, principles and policies of the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The purpose of the module is to enable college students to master the course and theoretical achievements of sinicization of Marxism, understand the party's lines, principles and policies, and establish a scientifically grounded worldview and view of life. It helps to establish the common ideal and faith of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and improve the ability of analyzing and solving real issues. 本课程是普通高等院校学生必修的一门马克思主义政治理论课,是高校政治理论课程中的核心课程。这门课的基本内容是全面论述毛泽东思想以及中国特色社会主义理论的科学涵义、形成发展过程、科学体系、历史地位、指导意义、基本观点及中国特色社会主义建设的路线方针政策等。使大学生通过学习掌握马克思主义中国化的历程和理论成果,了解党的路线、方针和政策,树立正确的世界观、人生观和价值观;使大学生确立中国特色社会主义的共同理想和信念;使大学生能自觉运用马克思主义的立场、观点和方法,提高分析解决现实问题的能力。

Learning outcomes

A.Understand the theoretical connotation, value and practical significance of Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of "three Represents", Scientific Development view and Xi Jinping thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. 了解毛泽东思想、邓小平理论、“三个代表”重要思想、科学发展观与习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的理论内涵,价值与现实意义。 B.Develop an ability to write short essays to analyze and evaluate real issues. 能够利用马克思主义中国化理论知识分析和解决现实问题。

Method of teaching and learning

Lectures are delivered on a weekly basis, with the use of case studies to illustrate and exemplify the main ideas. The University’s virtual learning environment (including Learning Mall Online & Utalk) will be used for online discussion, as well to provide feedback to students. In class quizzes will be carried out to evaluate students’ progress and achievement of the learning outcomes.
