Aims and Fit of Module

This module introduces the basic aspects of the structures, characteristics and applications of soft materials.

Learning outcomes

A. understand the fundamental principles of soft materials, including their molecular structures, behaviors, and properties. B. demonstrate knowledge of various methods for the synthesis and characterization of soft materials C. analyze the relationship between the structure and properties D. evaluate the different applications of soft materials in different industries and assess the challenges and emerging trends in the field

Method of teaching and learning

This module will be delivered by a combination of lectures and tutorials. Lectures will be designed to provide essential information and introduce students to the basic tools of analysis, including some basic practice in applying the techniques. Tutorials will be based around exercise sheets, the completion of which and their discussion in workshops will provide students with a learning opportunity designed to extend the material introduced in the lectures. The assessment consists of coursework, in class activities, and final exam.
