This module aims to extend students’ Chinese language and cultural knowledge, so that they can deal with most situations likely to arise while living and studying in China; this module will help to bring their Chinese language skills to a level equivalent to CEFR A2+.
A Be able to demonstrate understanding of short, simple narratives when spoken clearly and slowly in the target language
B Be able to demonstrate understanding of short, simple texts on familiar subjects in the target language, which consist of high-frequency, everyday or university-related vocabulary
C Be able to use the target language to give a brief oral presentation about factual information, as well as to ask for and give opinions, or agree and disagree, in a simple way
D Be able to use the target language to write about their everyday life in simple sentences
Communicative language teaching involves a high level of interaction between teacher and students. Teaching and assessment will revolve around the setting and completion of specified language tasks.
This module includes 4 seminar hours for 12 weeks, plus 2 hours induction in week 1. Students will have 50 hours of self-study to support their learnings.
In order to submit their coursework tasks, the students must attend at least 8 weeks of seminars hours out of the 12 total weeks.
