Aims and Fit of Module

To introduce students to the analysis of communication, media, and their history;
To introduce analytical methods appropriate to studying film, television, and digital media;
To discuss models of media systems: private, public, and state;
To engage in critical debates of the effects of media on society;
To understand the basic elements of semiotic analysis.
