This module provides an introduction to the concepts and basic principles that are fundamental for the study and practice of public health. Students will be introduced to the concepts of health and disease, as well as a range of factors affecting the health of populations including sociocultural, economic, political, environmental, dietary and biological factors.
A. Identify how public health concepts can be applied to local, national, international and global public health issues.
B. List how biological, behavioural, dietary, socioeconomic and environmental factors can affect population health.
C. Define concepts that are fundamental to the study and practice of public health.
This module will be delivered through lectures, seminars and student presentations.
