Aims and Fit of Module

The aim of this module is to provide the student with an integrated understanding of the basic sciences of human health; anatomy, physiology and pathology, via a systems approach. This module will review the form and structure of the human body; the normal functioning of bodily processes and the pathological processes and mechanisms of disease.

Learning outcomes

A Identify the structure and function of human cells, tissues, organs and systems.
B Describe the difference between normal and pathological bodily structure and function.
C Outline the structure and function of the systems of the human body.
D Describe the normal and pathological structure and functioning of the human body with appropriate terminology.
E Interpret how stressors and environment can affect the homeostatic maintenance and functioning of the human body.

Method of teaching and learning

Online teaching on Zoom (BBB doesn't work well with students abroad + notes , PPTs and lecture videos on ICE with class quiz for weekly revision
