The aim of this module is to introduce students to the concepts and techniques of epidemiology. It covers the principles and methods of epidemiologic investigation, including describing the distribution of disease in populations and the use of research designs for investigating the etiology of disease.
A Discuss the application of the basic principles and methods of epidemiology, including disease (outcome) measures, measures of association, study designs, bias, confounding and interaction.
B Describe the application of descriptive and analytic epidemiologic techniques to conditions affecting the health of populations.
C Interpret the contribution of epidemiologic information to the improvement of health of populations.
