Aims and Fit of Module

The aim of this module is to introduce students to the ways in which research is conducted in public health. The module focuses on the spectrum of public health research. Students will learn how to conduct a research project culminating in a research proposal with a proper literature review.

Learning outcomes

A. Formulate appropriate primary and secondary research questions, with critical reference to relevant research literature.
B. Evaluate methodologies used in Public Health research.
C. Assess the ethical issues raised in methodologies used in Public Health research.
D. Demonstrate the ability to complete an appropriate research proposal.

Method of teaching and learning

Lectures and Seminars. Students will have ample time to practice research methods.
