Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding and appreciation of concepts related to urbanization and health and the frameworks for healthy cities.

Learning outcomes

A Formulate an understanding of, and appreciation for, the complex health processes resulting from urbanization.
B Critically appraise sustainable urban planning concepts employed in the creation of healthy cities.
C Devise solutions to the health challenges of urbanization and recommendations to design healthier cities.
D Design a programme to improve urban health.

Method of teaching and learning

Lecture, small group discussions in seminars, tutorials and debates will all be utilised. Additionally, videos will be introduced as needed. And students will have an opportunity to practice concepts of urban planning.
