The aim of this module is to introduce students to the basic concepts and principles of finance and its role in society. The module provides students with a knowledge of some key issues in finance as they relate to business and society.
A Demonstrate understanding of the key functions of and participants in the financial market.
B Demonstrate understanding of the roles and responsibilities of key players in finance.
C Show appreciation of the controversies and challenges in the relationship between finance and society.
The teaching and learning strategies employed include a combination of lectures (which teach basic concepts and principles), tutorials (which are interactive sessions designed to enable students to apply their knowledge to analyse real-world problems and issues), and the university’s virtual learning environment, which will be used for the dissemination of material, as well to provide feedback to students.
