As an optional module offered by the Academy of Film and Creative Technology, this module supports students’ transition to university-level learning, fosters broad intellectual exploration, and facilitates academic and professional pathway alignment. Specifically, it aims to cultivate students’ creative expression through digital audio-visual content production, while establishing a shared conceptual and practical foundation for learners from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. The module introduces foundational concepts, iterative design processes, and professional practices in Creative Technology. It is co-facilitated by LIFE, which supports students’ research-led project-based learning (RLPBL) process, including inquiry development, evidence use, responsible AI/digital practice, feedback use, reflection, and learning development. Through a project-based digital audio-visual content task, students explore how creative technology can respond to real-world contexts, user/audience needs, and social or cultural issues.
A. Apply discipline-specific modes of thinking to develop a Visual Content project through rigorous engagement with the multifaceted dimensions of Creative Technology. B. Adopt a research-based project-based learning approach to systematically investigate and execute the project.
This module comprises two complementary session formats: (1) a two-hour weekly lecture led by AFCT faculty, which introduces discipline-specific modes of thinking, foundational concepts and principles, and state-of-the-art developments in Creative Technology—illustrated through case-based analysis of professional projects, curated screenings, and on-set demonstrations/activities; and (2) a one-hour weekly tutorial co-facilitated by LIFE staff, supporting students’ inquiry processes, responsible AI and digital practices, collaborative teamwork, critical reflection, effective use of feedback, and alignment with individual academic and professional pathways. The module is co-delivered with LIFE as an integral component of the Semester 1 Academic Horizons spine.
