Aims and Fit of Module

Aims: This module allows students to develop a research plan that leads to the final Master research project. The module will begin to assign individual supervisor/advisor to each student. Together with their supervisors, the students will explore and identify a research project topic, establish research questions and formulate a research proposal that is feasible and to be implemented in the subsequent semester. Objectives: The module, therefore, runs at the practical level of developing a research idea. In addition to his/her own supervisee students, the module leader serves as the coordinator to oversee, facilitate and support the collaborations between the supervisors and students.

Learning outcomes

A Critically employ advanced research methods to address agendas in cultural and creative industries, both theoretically and empirically. B Develop critically the research plan that formulates the methodological strategy based upon a well-established research initiative C Develop an original research proposal that presents the research rationale and design

Method of teaching and learning

A short series of lectures will be delivered to refresh the research knowledge that students acquired in prerequisite modules. These review lectures also help students contextualise further their research thinking skills. Weekly seminar and tutorial sessions will be held between the students and their supervisors to discuss and reflect on the research progress and the relevant agendas.
