Aims and Fit of Module

Aims: This module is part of the Pathway 1 Content Producing. The module aims to provide students with understandings of advanced visual aesthetics of media texts and practical experience in production of visual storytelling in media texts. Objectives: Students will learn visual storytelling techniques at an advanced level with a critical understanding of cinematic aesthetics.

Learning outcomes

A Demonstrate a critical understanding of visual aesthetics of film and media B Apply advanced concepts and techniques of visual aesthetics in a visual storytelling project C Analyse critically the visual aesthetics of media D Develop original media pre-production material for visual storytelling

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching sessions are divided into two components (lectures and seminars/screenings). Lectures will compliment readings on topics such as visual aesthetics of cinema, visual storytelling media production. Seminars/screenings will focus on screening seminal media texts and provide time for unstructured discussion and classwork.
