Aims and Fit of Module

Focusing on the characteristics of the new urbanisation development and the requirements of construction planning, this course interprets the new urbanisation policies of the government, explores the overall planning theories and practice on new urbanisation from several perspectives, and studies the development strategies of the new urbanisation. This module also aims to improve the planning capacities of students, to expand their horizons and thus to promote the development of local urbanisation.

Learning outcomes

A Interpret urban and rural development and the transformation of regional economic development in the context of new era urbanisation.
B Analyse decision making and capital operations in key industries so as to propose solutions to key issues in the development of new urbanisation.
C Assess the relevant policies and development path of China’s new urbanisation strategy with a view to examining solutions to problems arising from the new process.

Classroom teaching, case study, seminars and on-the-spot investigation.
