The purpose of this module is to provide students with a broad and thorough understanding of the importance of sustainability in supply chain to the environments.
Some tools and systems to identify and overcome environmental impact of the supply chain will be introduced (Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Management System, Green Supply Chain Management, etc.)
A. Critically analyses the activities in supply chain and the effect to environment and organisation.
B. Comprehensively demonstrate understanding of the concept of sustainability in supply chain and ways to enhance it.
C. Demonstrate understanding of the application of Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Management System, Green Supply Chain Management, and other systems and how each can complement to each other.
The teaching philosophy of the module follows very much the philosophy of Syntegrative Education. This has meant that the teaching delivery pattern, which follows more intensive block teaching, allows more meaningful contribution from industry partners. This philosophy is carried through also in terms of assessment, with reduction on the use of exams and increase in coursework, especially problem-based assessments that are project focused. The delivery pattern provides space in the semester for students to concentrate on completing the assessments.
The teaching and learning strategy combine traditional teaching in classrooms with active learning and analysis of real life situations and case studies
