This module aims to provide students with the critical knowledge and understanding of project evaluation from the comprehensive perspectives of project management, cost and finance, as well as risk management. This involves project selection, funding and financing, cost and budgeting, risk management and project controlling. Students will learn practical skills, methods and knowledge necessary for project evaluation throughout a project lifecycle.
A. Demonstrate a critical understanding on the concepts and methods of project selection, financing and budgeting management as well as apply these methods in real life project scenarios. B. Interpret, explain and apply theoretical knowledge in project risk management. C. Select and apply appropriate principles, processes, tools and techniques of project evaluation throughout the project lifecycle. D. Critically evaluate various challenges associated with project evaluation. E. Critically evaluate and apply a range of tools, including AI-driven techniques, to enhance project evaluation, optimize decision-making, and improve risk analysis.
The module will be delivered through 3-hour integrated seminars, combining lecture-style introductions to key concepts with hands-on activities. In each seminar, students will actively engage with the material, applying theoretical knowledge through case studies, practical exercises, and group discussions. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to apply, design, and test various advanced tools for project evaluation, including AI-driven techniques, gaining hands-on experience in real-time, technology-supported decision-making.
