This module aims to introduce IMBA students to qualitative research , which will assist them in their completion of their “capstone” research project (i.e., Final Individual Project - SMO409). Following on from providing the students with a grounding in the research process, the module will instruct the course participants about the philosophy which underpins interpretive qualitative research and the implications this has for designing research projects/writing research proposals. Additionally, the students will be taught about the different qualitative research methodologies, their associated forms of data collection and how such data can be analyzed.

This module is based on the teaching strategy of lectures. This will be accompanied by private study. Aside from the module textbook, additional material will be posted to the LMO for independent research and study.
