This module aims to introduce students to fundamental principles useful for academic and professional excellence. In addition to emphasizing the development of both receptive and productive English language skills, it will also allow students to explore topics, such as leadership, self-management, relationship management, innovation, creativity, and community/global impact that will be instrumental in their success at XJTLU and beyond. In addition, this course will introduce students to the XJTLU active learning model and provide an overview of XJTLU’s departments, schools, programmes, and policies.
A.Demonstrate a basic understanding of written and/or spoken texts relevant to university life and beyond.
B.Deliver short presentations on topics relevant to university life and beyond.
C.Highlight real-world applications of specific topics and draw connections.
D.Demonstrate a basic understanding of how XJTLU policies apply to different real-life situations.
Seminars will take an interactive and engaging approach, maximizing the use of learning technologies and flexible learning spaces where possible. Seminars will be supplemented by regularly assigned out of class activities.
