Engineering Drawing

Module Title Engineering Drawing
Module Level Level 1
Module Credits 2.50
Academic Year 2024/25
Semester SEM2

Aims and Fit of Module

Engineering drawing is an application oriented subject that introduces the preparation, representation and reading of engineering drawings. It is an important document in industry for design, manufacture, utilization and service, often recognized as the graphical language of engineers; therefore, all engineers should know how to read, speak and write it. This module is introduced to provide the fundamentals of Engineering Drawing and the design process, including graphical theory, standards and conventions of drawing, computer aided tools for drawing and the use of drawings in electrical engineering applications.

Learning outcomes

A. Demonstrate a clear understanding of the standards in engineering drawing.
B. Apply orthographic projection to view and analyze engineering solids.
C. Propose the isometric representation of engineering components.
D. Apply spatial-visual thought, spatial imagination, exploration and innovation.

Method of teaching and learning

This module will be delivered through a combination of formal lectures, tutorials and supervised practical sessions.
