Aims and Fit of Module

This module provides students with a general, non-specialist introduction to the areas of international business law, to give them a general understanding of the principal areas of law that may be encountered in future professional practices.

Learning outcomes

A. Understand the implications of International laws and treaties
B. Evaluate the effectiveness of different legal systems and practices
C. Demonstrate a broad and general understanding of the major legal aspects of a number of countries
D. Appreciate the different dispute procedures available
E. Demonstrate knowledge and understand the roles of the various international organisations, such as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO)

Method of teaching and learning

The module will be delivered through a combination of lectures and tutorials. The lectures will provide a basic guide and introduction to a particular issue. The small group tutorials will enable students to clarify their understanding of the information delivered in the lecture, and will enable them to explore each topic in more detail through discussion and debate.
