Aims and Fit of Module

This course aims to develop programmatic thinking for accounting and finance students by introducing basic Python programming syntax and SQL skills. With the rise of digital transformation, students will also be introduced to data processing and visualization, which are the preparation for data analytics.Students may be required to undertake programming talent test before taking this module.

Learning outcomes

A Demonstrate understanding of how to write basic Python statements and how to manipulate data with SQL B Write simple Python programs with functions, conditional statements and loops C Collect data from databases with Python and SQL D Create visualizations in Python E Conduct simple statistical analysis in Python

Method of teaching and learning

This module will be taught using a combination of micro-lectures and lab sessions. Learning will also be reinforced by appropriate readings and practices from the course resources.
