Data in the real world are dynamic and sometimes messy. This complexity can intimidate students who are new to math and statistics – but it’s also what makes statistics interesting. This module aims to introduce topics in statistics and to describe and discuss the potential scope of their applications.
A Describe statistical data. B Understand basic probability theory. C Perform simple goodness-to-fit tests.
Course content will be delivered primarily via standard lectures that will be accompanied by suitable lecture handouts (also available on LMO). Tutorials will be given as a platform to address any specific question or issue from individual students.
