Aims and Fit of Module

In statistics, survey sampling describes the process of selecting a sample of elements from a target population to conduct a survey. Sampling is an important concept in statistics, and survey sampling is essential in epidemiological methodology. Knowledge and skills in survey data analysis is one of the fundamental abilities as a bio or medical statistician. The aim of this module is to provide students an opportunity to gain sufficient knowledge and skills relevant to survey sampling.

Method of teaching and learning

The module is delivered through a combination of lectures and tutorials over a period of 13 weeks. In lectures, students are introduced to the core concepts, major methodology and common topics of survey sampling, and to the procedures of data analysis for survey data. Tutorials are given as a platform to address any specific question or issue from individual students.
