Evidence-based medicine is the process of systematically reviewing, appraising, and using clinical research findings to aid the delivery of optimum clinical care to patients. It involves important approaches such as systematic reviews and meta analyses where statistical assessment plays a fundamental role. The aim of this module is to provide students an opportunity to gain sufficient knowledge on principles of evidence-based medicine, and procedures of carrying out systematic reviews and meta-analyses using appropriate process and statistical approaches.

The module is delivered through a combination of lectures and tutorials over a period of 13 weeks. In lectures, students are introduced to the core principles, main procedures, and common topics and issues in the areas of systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Tutorials are given as a platform to address any specific question or issue from individual students.
