This module aims to introduce basic concepts and various methods of survival analysis, including modelling time-to-event data, non-parametric, semi-parametric and parametric models. SAS will be used in this module to analyze the survival data.
A. Summarize the characteristics of survival data and different types of censorings. B. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the basic concepts of non-parametric model. C. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the assumptions for different survival models (parametric, semi-parametric or non-parametric methods), and be able to apply the proper method in analyzing time-to-event data. D. Perform survival analysis using a statistical software, and be able to interpret the result.
The module is delivered through a combination of lectures and tutorials over a period of 13 weeks. In lectures, students are introduced to the core principles, major methodology, and common topics and issues in the area of survival analysis. Tutorials are given as a platform to address any specific question or issue from individual students.
