The aim is for students to generate a small-scale design proposal, based on a brief. The students proposal should show design development from an initial concept. The student should have be able to develop a series of spaces each displaying different architectural qualities and responding in some way to the site/spatial adjectives.
A Produce and present conceptual design ideas as the basis for creative processes.
B Engage in form development and experimentation as part of design practice.
C Interpret design briefs for the purpose of producing design proposals.
D Identify appropriate materials and processes for a proposed design.
E Express a design project by employing visual communication in a variety of media.
The studio module will be taught through group tutorials. The students will present their designs on a frequent basis enabling peer and staff feedback on their proposals. In addition, the student is expected to conduct their own research into relevant materials, technology and precedents - the outcomes of which will be discussed further in the small group tutorials. Students are encouraged to utilize CAAD tools and to develop a self paced work ethic of which these tutorials are a key element.
