To consolidate and apply fundamental knowledge of electromagnetic fields; electric and magnetic circuits; to model an electromechanical automation system using motors, electric machines, transformers and synchronous machines, which are important to engineering and applications.
A. Apply basic principles related to electrostatics, magnetostatics, and electromagnetic induction. B. Use the timeinvariant Maxwell's equations in differential and integral form for engineering applications such as inductors and capacitors. C. Apply knowledge of electromagnetic fields to solve electric and magnetic circuit problems. D. Model electromechanical systems using motors, transformers, and generators, recognising their respective capabilities and limitations. E. Understand the measurement of electromagnetic fields and analyse the results.
This module will be delivered through a combination of formal lectures, tutorials and supervised laboratory sessions.
