The principle aim of this module is to introduce the environment in which e-commerce takes place. It will also introduce the technologies that support e-commerce solution’s development, marketing and maintenance, as well as e-commerce social issues including security, privacy and ethics. A. Demonstrate an understanding of the methods and issues involved in deploying e-commerce solution to meet business goals. B. Demonstrate the ability to use suitable technologies and methods in developing, deploying, marketing and maintaining e-commerce solutions. C. Demonstrate an awareness of security issues and solutions in e-ecommerce transactions. D. Demonstrate an awareness of key legal, social and ethical issues as well as methods to account for these in a system design.
Students will be expected to attend two hours of formal lectures, two hours of supervised practical/lab classes in a typical week. In addition, students will be expected to devote two hours to do background reading, two hours self-lab practice for reflection and consideration of lecture material and three to four hours of unsupervised lab time to finish the lab-based project.
