This module is an introduction to Game Design. It offers students a practical, theoretical, and critical approach to game design that will enable them to understand the processes of video game creation in the context of its history, and create their own demo.
A. Demonstrate an understanding of game design phases and processes.
B. Demonstrate a practical knowledge of game design software through applied practice.
The teaching sessions are divided into three components (Lectures, labs and private study).
Lectures will focus on game design techniques and basic craft rules.
An intensive series of practical workshops will equip the students with the technical skills and understanding of game design and game design software.
Within lab work, the emphasis will shift to the creation and management of different assets focused on the development of interactive experiences.
In that this is an optional module, to well utilise the university resource, the module delivery is subject to meeting a minimum number of students (10).
