The aim of the module is to integrate the concepts of environmental science and engineering within the Civil Engineering profession, as well as to understand the principles, concepts of environmental chemistry, biology, and analyze the water pollution, solid waste pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, and contaminant transport processes particularly in the context of natural water bodies and groundwater. The module also aims to provide guidance on the assessment of environmental impacts.
A. Understand and apply the knowledge and principles of environmental measurement, chemistry and biology to solve environmental issues. B. Assess the environmental impacts of water pollution. C. Evaluate the environmental impacts of solid waste pollution. D. Assess the environmental impacts of air and noise pollution.
The module is taught through formal lectures and class tutorials.
