Aims and Fit of Module

To familiarise the students with numerical approximation algorithms for some typical mathematical problems in an engineering context.

Learning outcomes

A. Develop computational codes based on numerical algorithms. B. Apply numerical methods for finding the roots of an equation, and solving systems of linear & non-linear equations. C. Develop numerical algorithms for conducting interpolation and curve fitting of engineering data. D. Use numerical integration and differentiation for the solution of engineering problems.
