Aims and Fit of Module

This module offers a comprehensive exploration of film studies in the context of the digital age. Students will critically examine the impact of digital technologies on various aspects of production, distribution, reception, and the overall cinematic experience. Through a combination of theoretical analysis, practical exercises, discussions, and research, students will gain a nuanced understanding of how digital advancements have transformed the world of cinema. This module also offers students the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge and technical skills in practical projects. Students will be asked to conceive and execute a video essay using the techniques and concepts learned in class. By the end of the module, students should have a solid understanding of the principles, techniques, and creative possibilities of digital cinema, while cultivating a nuanced perspective on the challenges and opportunities it presents for filmmakers, audiences, and the film industry as a whole.
