Aims and Fit of Module

1. Develop students’ critical understanding of culture and learning from socio-cultural and related perspectives, and examine their implications for innovation in global education. 2. Explore how culture, language, identity, power, equity, and context shape educational development, learning processes, and educational practice in diverse local and international settings. 3. Examine how culturally informed perspectives can support the design, adaptation, and evaluation of innovative learning environments, pedagogies, and educational initiatives, including digital and AI-enhanced approaches. 4. Engage students in research-led and project-based learning through the analysis of authentic educational challenges and the collaborative design of culturally responsive innovations for real or realistic educational contexts. 5. Cultivate students’ ability to use digital and AI-enabled tools critically, ethically, and strategically to support inquiry, design, collaboration, reflection, and communication in global education.

Learning outcomes

A. Critically analyse key theories and concepts of culture and learning, and evaluate their relevance for understanding educational development and innovation in global education contexts. B. Evaluate how culture, language, identity, equity, power, and context influence learning processes, educational practice, and the design or adoption of innovation in diverse settings. C. Collaboratively design and justify a research-informed, culturally responsive educational innovation or learning project for a real or realistic context, demonstrating coherent problem analysis, project-based learning principles, implementation considerations, and stakeholder awareness. D. Use digital and AI-enabled tools critically, ethically, and strategically to support inquiry, design, collaboration, reflection, and professional communication related to culture, learning, and innovation in global education.

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching sessions are interactive and designed using a project-based approach where appropriate. The module is divided into seminars and field PBL. For seminars, we have a flexible deliver pattern as follows: 3hours*2weeks (Week1-2) 6hours*6weeks (Week3-8) 2hours*5weeks (Week9-13 On Campus OR Field Site) For the field PBL, work will primarily be conducted in Week 9 to Week 13. 14hours*5weeks(Week9-13)
