This module will introduce key concepts and current research in developmental psychology and educational psychology. Students will learn about cognitive, language, and social-emotional development across the life span, as well as a wide range of topics related to learning and teaching in schools (e.g., individual difference, learning motivation, effective teaching, and teaching evaluation). Students will explore how psychological concepts can be used as a basis for supporting individual development and learning.
A Demonstrate knowledge of individual development across the life span in key developmental domains (e.g., cognitive, language, and social-emotional development)
B Demonstrate understanding of the core concepts of psychology in education and schools regarding learning and teaching
C Critically evaluate and reflect on practical and empirical perspectives in developmental psychology and educational psychology
D Demonstrate analytical knowledge about different strategies to support individual development and learning as well as effective teaching in schools
The teaching sessions are interactive and divided into two components: lectures and tutorials/workshops. The tutorials/workshops will build on the material covered in the lectures.
