Aims and Fit of Module

Monitoring and evaluation supports accountability, evidence-based strategic decision-making and organizational learning, by measuring, analyzing, and presenting accurate information to stakeholders about an ongoing or completed activity, a project, a program, a strategy, or even a policy. This set of skills can be applied to a wide variety of educational organizations in the field of global education, including schools, universities, government agencies, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. This module aims to equip students with an evidence-based decision-making mindset and foundational knowledge and skills in monitoring and evaluation, thus enabling students to conduct basic monitoring and evaluation related practical work in diverse real-life settings in the field of global education. Students should be able to understand the role and importance of monitoring and evaluation in educational systems and organizations, identify the main components of an M&E system, design a simple monitoring and evaluation plan, select appropriate data collection methods and tools, and interpret data collected to formulate conclusions and recommendations.

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching sessions are interactive and divided into two components: lectures and tutorials. The tutorials will build on the materials covered in the lectures. Students are expected to fully participate in class. This means that students will read the assigned materials, complete activities, arrive promptly, attend all class meetings for the entire session, and participate in class discussions. The instructor will use the Learning Mall as the online platform for pre- and post-course work learning activities.
