This module focuses on the grasp of various design approaches and methods of digital education and quality practice in digital pedagogy. It will emphasize how digital data is used in an educational context. It will help learners adopt a design-led perspective on the development and creation of online or digitally-mediated modules, programmes or other technology products, projects, or services in a range of settings-including formal, informal, workplace and other learning contexts. It will also explore the benefits and challenges associated with digital practice in contemporary, complex teaching and learning situations. In EDS 431, students had the opportunity to focus on the design on a curriculum level and learned how to design programmes with a mindset of incorporating digital means and strategies. Built upon EDS 431’s knowledge and skills on curriculum design in digital education, in EDS 433, students will continue to practice the skills for designing educational activities and tasks in a broader and deeper scope, using digital means as a response to the changing educational scenarios.
A. Demonstrate and share systematic and comprehensive knowledge of the key designing approaches and techniques of digital education
B. Apply theories and concepts of digital educational design and future-oriented thinking in creating technologies or tools to respond to specific educational aims and issues.
C. Critically evaluate on the benefits and challenges associated with digital education tools with solid data and well-designed methodology, and make recommendations on implementing new designs in educational sectors.
The teaching sessions are interactive and divided into two components: Lectures and Lab / Practicals. In the lecture section, online-onside blended teaching and learning will be used. One or more methods will be used in teaching and learning such as e-learning, flipped classroom, project-based learning with technology. Both formative assessment and summative assessment will be applied, such as oral and written feedback and peer feedback and evaluation. Labs will provide students with hands-on experiences to design and implement digital education tools and practices.
