This module aims to familiarise students with some basic concepts of power electronics and to provide them with the tools to design some basic circuits.
A. Implement the basic operating principles of switched-mode converters. B. Apply the steady-state voltages and currents of stepdown, step-up, inverting, and other power converters C. Develop mathematical design skills and practice the relevant experiments.
The module is taught through formal lectures, class tutorials and laboratory experiments.
