This optional module in Year 1, Semester 1, exposes students to the real-world application of contemporary entrepreneurship and interactive campus-based experiences across the many fields of study at the university. The module not only immerses learners in the variety of technology specialisms available to students in the schools of the University, but also unlocks important consideration of why concepts like intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship can enhance professional success – irrespective of whether the aim is to develop new technology products and businesses, or pursue careers within existing organisations. This module also integrates with the School-led disciplinary context with the wider Year 1 LIFE Spine, which will provide discipline-specific support, such as evidence use, responsible digital practice, reflection, and provisional pathway alignment. The module also sought to provide a broad grasp of Syntegrative Education and how it benefits students. Under this framework, students can also explore various industries and discover their interests. This module promotes student-directed learning and facilitates the transfer from high school to international universities such as XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) (“XEC” hereinafter). Additional objectives include encouraging students' curiosity and interest rather than enforcing the nuances of each discipline.
Adapt to English‑medium university study by engaging with academic expectations, utilising learning resources effectively, and navigating the structures of university learning with growing confidence. Identify key concepts of intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship and analyse their relationship to achieving commercial success. Engage with broad academic fields by articulating disciplinary ways of thinking, interpreting programme expectations, and evaluating potential academic pathways. Demonstrate foundational awareness of Syntegrative Education by applying integrative approaches, utilising object‑based learning tools (e.g., mobile phones), and implementing problem‑based learning methods in practical examples.
The module is mainly delivered through 6 weeks, split by 4 sessions in SIP campus and 2 practical sessions at XEC Campus. Featuring real-world demonstrations of equipment, learning facilities, simulations, visualizations and more. The module will follow an engaging, interactive approach, where some seminars may be co-delivered by industry-partners or guest lecturers who will use activities related to the context of the module. This module required 4 hours of delivery for entrepreneurship knowledge in STEM, sharing, and activities by Industry Professors, as well as experiential activities. Technology will be an important part of the module. Students will visit the Innovation Factory and X3 Co-Venture at XEC Campus, where they can explore the integration of technologies and knowledge. This module encourages students to apply classroom knowledge and research-led approaches to address real-world challenges. This module is also co-delivered with LIFE through the common Semester 1 Academic Horizons spine, by means of a weekly one-hour LIFE studio. The studio uses a hands-on, project-based approach in which students develop key academic skills. These include asking clear questions, finding and using evidence, using AI tools responsibly, working effectively in a team, and communicating their ideas clearly. Students apply these skills to real-world topics related to their subject area.
