Aims and Fit of Module

The module aims to provide students with an analysis of the relationship of innovation and technology entrepreneurship in their role as driver of the knowledge-based economy. It will analyze the methods and approaches to nurture innovation and pursue technology entrepreneurship. It will highlight the processes of technology transfer and highlight the role and interaction of the innovation system in establishing an economy based on knowledge.

Learning outcomes

A Understand and enact the concepts and salient aspects of Technology innovation B Nurture the culture of entrepreneurship and the essence of management of change and innovation C Critically analyse the processes of technology transfer and the modes of operation under different social-political environments. D Demonstrate familiarity with and critical appraisal of global best practices for technology transfer, and application within the Asia-pacific region.

Method of teaching and learning

This module will be delivered through lectures, seminars and tutorials. Teaching will be conducted using problem-based learning, with problems embedded in the lectures. General transferable skills are developed through the presentation of written and oral reports.
