Aims and Fit of Module

The module equips students with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to manage and implement technology transfer within an industry setting. It emphasizes the commercialization of innovations, focusing on market-driven technology assessment and the strategic alignment of technologies with business needs. Students will develop practical skills to facilitate the technology transfer process, including market evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and implementation strategies. The module also addresses key issues related to intellectual property management, sustainability, competitive advantage, and the role of startups, licensing, and spin-off companies in the commercialization of new technologies.

A Critically evaluate and implement industry-specific strategies for successful technology transfer, focusing on real-world commercialization and stakeholder engagement. Method of teaching and learning

This module adopts a fully project-based learning (PBL) approach, centered on an industry-driven project and a series of practical workshops. There are no traditional lectures or tutorials; instead, students engage in hands-on, immersive sessions designed to foster collaborative problem-solving and innovation. Practical and workshop activities are structured to guide students through analyzing, addressing, and solving real-world challenges presented by industry partners. Transferable skills, such as critical thinking, teamwork, and communication, are developed through the preparation and delivery of both written and oral project outputs, ensuring students gain practical, actionable expertise.
