Aims and Fit of Module

The aim of this Year 1 module is to prepare students for study on the BSc Intelligent Supply Chain. The module teaches students about:
1. The role of operations and supply chain management.
2. The framework and the methodology of the intelligent supply chain management.
3. The evidence and data driven decision making skills for supply chain management.
4. Soft skills of pay attention to details, communication, coordination, team work, problem solving, change management, and leadership.
Each week, there will also be a seminar to introduce students to entrepreneurial aspects of the degree programme.

A. Identify the role of operations and supply chain management. B. Describe the framework and methodology of intelligent supply chain management. C. Explain the methodology of data-driven decision-making. D. Analyse the soft skills required for intelligent supply chain operations.

Method of teaching and learning

The key themes in the module are introduced in lectures, including tuition sessions and reflection sessions, and practice activities will also be included. Apart from lecturing, a variety of teaching and learning techniques that will be employed in the delivery of the course, including lab simulations and seminar. Lecturing and lab simulation will be well matched and arranged alternately in terms of teaching content design. Following lecturing, students will apply the theories learned in the lecturing to the lab simulation. Reflection report associated with the lab simulation will be required in the coursework. In the final week, there will be a two-hour seminar session where students will be able to experience and explore the entrepreneurial aspects of the degree programme through guest speaker sharing or industry on-site tour.
