• To develop good understanding of information systems and information technology infrastructure in business environment.
• To introduce key system applications for the digital age and the information systems management in global business today.
A. Understand the role of information systems (IS) in global business today, including definition of E-business and E-commerce, and the dynamic interaction between IS and organisations.
B. Demonstrate awareness of ethical and social issues caused by IT and IS.
C. Explain the information technology infrastructure including telecommunications, the Internet and wireless technology, and identify the development of IT, business intelligence, and information security.
D. Understand the core information technology applications including supply chain management, customer relationship management, knowledge management and decision-support systems in business today.
E. Demonstrate the practical skills (e.g. group work, oral and written communication, use of multiple sources) in decision-making situations.
This module is going to be delivered mainly via a two-hour lecture and a one-hour tutorial per week. Module materials and assessment requirements will be available online for students’ access. In addition, students will be expected to devote unsupervised time to background reading, assessment tasks and private study.
